Great article by Michael Schachner a New York-based journalist specializing in wine and a member of the Wine Enthusiast magazine’s tasting panel. These are his notes on our beloved Carinyena from our vineyard in Porrera:

—Perinet 2016 Pendents (Priorat); 94 points. Potent aromas of dark-berry fruits and schist come with enough prune, raisin and licorice to rank this as a bruiser in need of more time. That initial impression is confirmed on a deeply layered palate with ruggedness and chop. Blackberry and cassis flavors are backed by barrel-driven chocolate and vanilla, while this remains chocolaty on a powerful but smooth finish; best from 2022-2030. Cellar Selection.—

Perinet has a great collection of single-vineyard single varietal limited edition wines. Handcrafted wines expressing the uniqueness of the Priorat terroir achieving great recognition in the international wine scenario. The Vinya Pendents Carinyena 2016 comes from our Pendents vineyard, located 13 miles from the Mediterranean in the most marine-influenced village in the Priorat, Porrera. This vineyard is north-east facing, providing many hours of sunlight and vital airflow from the Mediterranean. This site is unique in the Priorat because of its exposure to the Mediterranean sea breeze. Pendents is the most steeply-sloping vineyard on the Perinet estate. Some parts of the vineyard are on slopes exceeding 30 degrees. The Carinyena variety thrives in the Priorat’s famous llicorella slate soils. Pendents is Porrera’s best-kept secret.
